Health Kits needed: Mission Central needs U.M.C.O.R. Health Kits. We are in need of supplies.
The Health Kit:
-1 hand towel (15" x 25" up to 17" x 27", no kitchen towels)
-1 washcloth
-1 comb (large and sturdy, no pocket combs)
-1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
-1 bath sized bar of soap (3oz. and up)
-1 toothbrush (single adult sized individually wrapped)
-6 adhesive plastic strip bandages
Place above items inside a sealed one-gallon plastic bag. Sager Brown is now purchasing the toothpaste in bulk and is requesting a $1.00 to be included for the purchase of toothpaste. The inclusion of the $1.00 ensures the toothpaste is shipped before the expiration date, which saves their warehouse time and expense of the toothpaste.

Mission Center News - from the July - August Newsletter...
Greetings,
June has been another busy month for missions. The "card ladies" made about 450 "Welcome to Clearfield" cards for the group work camp that was in the area last week. Then we put together 430 candy packs to be included in the welcome packs for the students and their staff. All of the candy was donated by Mission Central.
We also made up "grab bag" gifts for our Great Food For All customers. These were all usable items that were non-standard for the UMCOR kits. We try to give something each month to our customers.
Thank you for the handi-wipe cloths for the cleaning buckets. We will be putting cleaning buckets together in the near future as I need to keep a few on hand for an emergency.
The Busy Bees have had some requests for assistance also. Thank you to anyone that lended a hand in that work. Please call the church if we can be of help to you and also let me know if you can be a Busy Bee worker/helper.
I ask that you keep our Sierra Leone Initiative partner church Roruks in the district of Yonibana in your prayers. They have so little.
I have reserved a 55 seat Fullington Trailways coach for a trip to Mission Central on September 25th. The cost will be $25 per person plus the cost of your meal on the way home. Exact departure time has not been set at this time. That Saturday is a home Penn State football game. Two interesting presentations will be made at Mission Central plus a tour of the facility. New Digs will be talking about their ministry of second hand goods to people in need. The other presentation will be by VIM explaining what is available at Mission Central to help VIM teams that are doing work projects. VIM stands for Volunteers In Missions and you will be hearing more about VIM. Please make your reservation as soon as possible. I'm offering this to West Side first, then if we have extra seats, I'll open it to the other churches. Make your check payable to West Side United Methodist Church and note bus trip on the memo line.
One of my goals as Missions and Hunger Coordinator is to develop a mission team in the Clearfield area. I want to see mission team members from West Side. I am a member of the Conference VIM Council and taken the training to lead a team to prepare myself for this goal. Also in preparation, I am going with the Altoona District VIM team to Red Bird Mission in Kentucky for a week in October. I would like to take a couple of others along also. The dates are October 17th thru 23 and the cost is $350. Please let me know asap as the group is limited to 20 persons.
There is so much to do in missions near and far. What is God calling us as a church to do? Where is God calling us to go? What are you being called to do?
In His Service, Margaret Daub
Missions & Hunger Coordinator
